Letters to Rufus Wilmot Griswold [manuscript], 1848 May 1 & n.d.

May accepts Griswold's offer of assistance sent via Dr. Bethum, and asks him for aid in obtaining information about Sarah Caroline Porter, Sarah Wentworth Morton, Sophia Louise Robbins Little, Anna Peyre Shackleford Dinnies, Eliza Townsend, Harriet Winslow Liszt, Louisa Simes, Miss Pratt, Laura M. Hawley Thurston, Maria A. Gowen Brooks, and Mary Elizabeth Aikin Brooks for publication in her book, "The American female poets." She also requests Griswold to give her the rhymes he is not going to use, and reminds him of his promise to let her see the proof of her entry before it is published.

Rufus Wilmot Griswold (February 13, 1815 – August 27, 1857) was an American anthologist, editor, poet, and critic. Born in Vermont, Griswold left home when he was 15 years old.
